For over twenty years now, book lovers have their own meeting point at the heart of Amsterdam – the Book Market on the Spui. Every Friday, from 10 am to 18 pm, a feast of printed matter takes place on the square of the Spui, come rain or shine.
Main participants are booksellers from all over the Netherlands, offering a wide range of antiquarian and second-hand books. Litterature, poetry, science or fiction; the Book Market has it all. If you 're after a rarity, it is best to inquire directly with the booksellers since they keep more of their treasures in-stock.
Here, you can also find antique prints and maps, posters, brochures and booklets, as well as periodicals of various genres. Most texts and documents are written in Dutch, English, French, or German, but other languages are not excluded.
Location: Spui, Amsterdam Centrum.
How to get there: From Central Station, it's 15' walking, via Kalverstraat; or take tram # 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 16, 24, 25.
