Sarphatipark is located in the heart of the peaceful district de Pijp. This beautiful urban park was renovated in 2004 with one the main goals being to improve the quality of the water.
The Sarphatipark as basketball courts, table tennis facilities and an enclosed playground for children. In the middle of the park an elaborate fountain ringed monument features a bronze bust of Dutch doctor, physician and city planner Samuel Sarphati, the park's name sake.
In 1942, the park was renamed "Bollandpark" after philosopher G.J.P.J. Bolland, because Samuel Sarphati was a Jew. The old name was restored after the war in 1945.
